The only thing better than one photo of a 747 travel agency model is two, three or more photos.

As you can see, I have a thing about this type of model aircraft.

When you taxi at the international airport in Tehran and in a few other cities, you quickly realize that Iran Air has a fairly large fleet of 747s (along with some dodgy Soviet-era transports and Airbuses).

It makes you wonder whether the parts and labor required to maintain a civilian 747 fleet are somehow exempt from U.S. and international economic sanctions against Iran. Or has Iran found a work-around in some gray market, or perhaps cannibalized some of its 747s for parts to keep the rest of the fleet in the air. It may even be possible Iran’s civilian air transports fall outside the sanctions. Wouldn’t that be kind?
