Illinois has filed the case and they say about 70 people have complained about being scam victims at the hands of YTB Travel. The Illinois Attorney General seeks damages for the scam victims and has files against YTB Travel.
They were not told that the average members was making less than $50 a year in travel commissions while they paid about the same money each month just for the YTB Travel website fees.
A few years ago YTB Travel was a big player in the home based travel business arena. They sell replicated travel agent websites and the ability for average people to earn extra money from travel agent commissions if they can convince others to book travel on their YTB Travel site.
The complaint alleges that the defendants violated Illinois unfair competition and advertising laws. The Company believes it has operated in full compliance with Illinois law and intends to vigorously defend the case, YTB said. The Company believes it has meritorious defenses to the claims, intends to advocate its position aggressively, and believes it will ultimately prevail in the case.
