TIny Travel Tip #6

Become familiar with the local customs of the country you are visiting. In some countries there is an expectation that you tip – make an additional payment based on the quality of the services rendered. In other countries bribing – prior payment for more favourable services – may be either severely frowned upon, or may be regarded as part and parcel of everyday transactions …

Palo, I am really confused about this tipping business .. we just don’t do it here .. what do people expect in the States?

- Not sure TIny, we might want to check that out before we leave … I don’t want the bellboy (or it it now bellperson) to be upset with us, do we? …

One of my students shocked me today by telling me I was in her book. Then she whipped out a new Kyoto guidebook called "Kyoto: The Greatest Travel Tips" and turned to a double page spread of me and Linton looking like a newly married gay couple in a rickshaw. It simultaneously rocked and sucked in equal measure.

I had no idea this had been released. Check it out in a bookstore near you. If you live in Kyoto. I’m now famous in my prefecture. Which us like being "the cool one" in computer club.
